Landscapes (as opposed to seascapes) often work best after the sun is up with rich side lighting and with the sun well out of the picture. Sometimes, however, I can’t resist the urge to include the sun although its best done when the sun is very low or partly blocked or partly held back by hazy clouds. In late August the rising sun is already marching quickly towards the south (to the right in this view) and so to include the sun and keep the end of the track well within the picture I needed an ultra wide 14mm lens. I chose a very small aperture of f22 to enhance the starburst.
