I’ve never photographed White-letter Hairstreaks before due to their habit of rarely venturing down from the tops of elm trees. I’d been told about a site near Littlehampton where the coastal elms were fairly small and isolated with large banks of brambles at their bases to lure down nectar feeders. Once I’d found the trees it wasn’t long before I had long uninterrupted views of several individuals some with their tails still intact.
