Windswept Brentor
Reference: DE20
Location: Brentor Church, Dartmoor
Gallery: Devon,
I’m always amazed by how small and vulnerable this church appears sitting precariously on a volcanic outcrop high above windswept Dartmoor. This composition concentrates on the perilous position of the church with the hard granite foreground rocks drawing you in. A church was first built here in the 12th century. The shear drop to the right of this composition was a long one and the wind was very strong on the edge of the ridge. Keeping the camera low helped with emphasising the foreground and also with the stability of the tripod.
