Tarn Hows

Location: Lake District
Gallery: The Lake District,
A gorgeous location, Tarn Hows is a picturesque mountain lake and is one of the most visited places in the Lake District. We arrived just before dusk and found an interesting sky with just enough gaps in the cloud to allow patchy sunshine to pick out some highlights. In the distance are the peaks of Helvellyn and the Langdale Pikes. Interestingly, Beatrix Potter purchased the Tarn and the surrounding land in 1929 and later bequeathed it to the National Trust in her will.
