Durdle Door in the Snow

Reference: DO3
Location: Durdle Door
Gallery: Dorset,

With the last remnants of snow clinging to the Dorset coast I headed to Durdle Door. This natural limestone arch was formed as softer rocks eroded away allowing the sea to punch through them. I picked a high vantage point to lead the eye around the sweep of the bay and to show remnants of snow in the foreground. In the winter the setting sun does not get around far enough to illuminate the main face although it did pick out some highlights on the edge of the arch and threw a long shadow onto the snowy beach. A long exposure blurred the clouds to provide movement and contrast.
