I usually plan to be on location 45 minutes before sunrise and so the walk to a dawn shoot is made in almost complete darkness. Halfway to the location I noticed green eyes staring back at me, the eyes seemed too close together to be deer and when they took off into the air I thought they must belong to a large moth. As the eyes came closer I realised they belonged to a Nightjar!
