Land’s End

For a few seconds only the sun broke through a narrow gap at the horizon. I expected the sun to be fairly strong and so set my aperture to f22 to enhance the likely starburst. I was also ready to bracket a few exposures in case the contrast range was high. In the end, however, I captured the scene in 1 shot by exposing to the right but making sure I didn’t blow the highlights significantly. In post processing I brought back highlight detail by moving the slider to -100 and I lifted the shadows with a similar positive amount.
