Merivale Stone Rows
Reference: DE19
Location: Merivale, Dartmoor
Gallery: Devon,
We headed out to the Stone Rows at Merivale. The group of monuments at Merivale is one of the finest on the moor. It includes many of the archaeological features associated with the Neolithic to Middle Bronze Age (about 2500–1000 BC). The monuments here include double stone rows. Such a vast array of monuments at Merivale indicate that this site was of great spiritual importance to the people who lived in the area. I chose a longer focal length (and stood back a few steps) to compress the middle ground. I also felt that the textures in the granite stone and the sky would work well with a black and white conversion.
