Newlands Valley

Reference: LD5
Location: Lake District
Gallery: The Lake District,

The Newlands Valley is regarded as one of the most picturesque and quiet valleys in the Lake District. It is characterised by farmland in the valley bottom and soaring fells above. Peter and I stayed in one of these white cottages in 2009 when we came to the Lakes looking for specialist butterflies. This view is from the upper slopes of Cat Bells with the patchy light adding texture and helping to define the contours.
