Red-eyed Damselfly

Eyeworth Pond in the New Forest has a good population of Red-eyed Damselflies. I’d photographed them before but because the males usually rest on lily pads quite a distance from the shoreline decent photographs were difficult. This time I put on my wellies and waterproof trousers and waded out as far as I could. Once I got to the limit of my wellies I used a 600mm lens to get close enough. I squatted very low almost to water level to make a more interesting aspect and then felt the water spill over the top of my wellies and though a hole in my waterproof trousers. Not nice but worth it.
