The Church in the Tapestry
Reference: OL11
Location: Bosham, West Sussex
Gallery: West Sussex,
Bosham is a small coastal village inside Chichester Harbour in West Sussex. King Harold set off from here on his way to Normandy in 1064 and the Church is depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry. The recent discovery of a Saxon grave in the church has led some historians to speculate that King Harold was also buried here following his death at the Battle of Hastings. I’d seen this composition on a previous visit and decided to return at a similar state of the tide but when the weather was better.
