Blea Tarn

Blea Tarn stands 700 feet above sea level is remote and dramatic and looking north from the southern shore the backdrop is the distinctive craggy profile of the rugged Langdale Pikes. With a wide angle lens I found the foreground rocks dominated too much and so I stepped back several yards and switched to a medium telephoto to increase the relative size of the Langdale Pikes. I then waited for gaps in the clouds to allow fleeting patches of light to drift down the valley. A 3 stop ND filter smoothed the Tarn to help keep attention fixed on the main elements.
